The Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamilnadu (TNDTE), takes care of the
polytechnic courses offered throughout the state. Tamilnadu has around 464 educational
institutions offering diploma courses along with post diploma and certification courses. All
these courses come under the purview of TNDTE.
The Diploma courses are offered for a period of 3 years, and anyone who has cleared their
10th standard is eligible to undertake these courses. The Post Diploma courses offered by
TNDTE can be taken up by anyone who has completed a minimum graduate level of study.
